Webinar Description

In the continuously evolving landscape of digital communication, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) encounter unique ethical challenges across a wide spectrum of online and electronic platforms, including social media, digital forums, blogs, and electronic publishing. This 50-minute Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is designed to address the complexities of maintaining ethical standards within these diverse digital environments. As the digital world becomes a cornerstone for professional networking, client engagement, and the dissemination of information, BCBAs must skillfully navigate the line between personal and professional online behaviors. Furthermore, the realm of publishing, which now spans from traditional academic channels to various digital formats such as e-books, online articles, and posts on professional networking sites, introduces numerous ethical considerations. These include safeguarding client confidentiality, accurately representing data, and understanding the implications of digital footprint and privacy issues. Through an engaging mix of theoretical exploration and practical scenarios, this CEU aims to prepare participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to engage ethically with all forms of digital media and electronic publishing in their professional activities.

Learning Objectives
  • Participants will learn to apply best practices for ethically engaging with online platforms and publishing content, whether it be research findings, professional opinions, or educational material and which guidelines to reference
  • Learners will be able to identify potential ethical dilemmas that may arise from the use of online sources and publishing activities.  They will learn strategies for best navigating these challenges including ongoing questioning throughout publishing.
  • Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) ethical guidelines as they pertain to social media use and publishing.
