Can you tell us a little about yourself and what led you to a career in ABA?
Emaley, Motivity’s Chief Clinical Officer, is the one who turned me onto ABA. I went to college thinking I would be a clinical psychologist. During that time, Emaley reached out to me and encouraged me to check out an on-campus preschool that provided ABA services to young children. I started as a volunteer and quickly learned I wanted to work there. I had some wonderful mentors who encouraged me to continue exploring ABA and now I’ve been in the field for over 15 years!
What’s a fun fact about you that most people might not know?
I love languages! I speak English, Portuguese, and a decent amount of Spanish. I am now beginning to learn Japanese! I also love cows. So. Much.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
I like to engage in creative projects (ex: crochet, sewing, scrapbooking, etc). I am so good at starting new projects. I’m currently working on finishing them! I also like to take my dog out on walks, play board games, go rock climbing, and travel. I’m hoping to make it to Canada this year!
What does your role as Director of Clinical Support involve?
My primary role is to support the Customer Success team. I assist them by building internal processes they can use for decision making, advocating for customer needs with our other teams, and overseeing the maintenance of our training materials. I also have the privilege to meet regularly with customers and learn more about how Motivity can best fit their needs.
What do you love most about working at Motivity?
The people. This has been one of the best teams I have ever worked with. Because the people have been so great to work with, the culture at Motivity is everything I hope for in a job. It is collaborative, curious, friendly, and innovative. Everyone wants to see each other and Motivity succeed. It’s awesome being part of such a unified team.
Can you share a memorable moment or accomplishment during your time here?
I went to a conference a few years ago and wound up accidentally sitting next to one of the Motivity gurus that I regularly worked with. We both looked at each other, took a beat, and then realized who the other was! We immediately screamed and hugged each other! It was so fun to meet a customer in real life and continue to build on that relationship!
How does your clinical background shape the way you support Motivity users?
I want Motivity to have an incredible impact on their work without impeding it. As a clinician, the majority of my job was breaking down skill sets in ways that my clients and staff would understand and be able to implement. That is my goal for Motivity users. I am always striving to provide tools and materials that allow Motivity to be accessible and understandable. I want Motivity to be the first tool users reach for, but the last thing they have to think about.
What’s your favorite Motivity feature, and why?
I love the phase scheduler! It’s so great for maintenance schedules! That was one of the many things I wish I had while I still worked at a clinic. Staying on top of every maintenance target could feel like a nightmare. This would have saved me so much time!!!
